Jon Stewart’s last day at The Daily Show is August 6… That’s today. Try and hold back your tears and remember that it’s best to remember the good times. To help you do just that, we’ve rounded up a few of the Jon Stewart segments we love.

1. The Fault in Our Schools

In this video, Stewart shows us just how terribly many schools handle sexual assault. When this video aired in June 2014, most everyone with an Internet connection knew about all the sexual assaults that were happening on campuses (and just how little was happening to the students who assaulted the women — even when there was footage). The best part of this clip comes when Jessica Williams takes over and schools everyone in the audience about just how much women are “required” to think about when they navigate the world everyday of their lives.

2. Eric Garner Grand Jury Decision

Through the past year, we’ve all learned that white privilege is real and that #BlackLivesMatter, and Jon Stewart was with us throughout that entire education. And while Stewart was there to give us some comedy to make some of these situations a bit better, he also knows when to get real. The above video is the realist reaction Stewart had about the Eric Garner grand jury decision.

3. Burn Noticed

Jon Stewart is great at dealing with emotional issues, but he also is incredibly adept at dealing with science news, too. One of the issues he dealt with on (sadly) a regular basis was climate change. We are really going to miss his humor when we have to hear about nasty things like drought and water shortages in the future.

4. Democalypse 2012 – Election Night 2012: This Ends Now – Campaign Headquarters 

And we’d be remiss if we didn’t include at least one clip of Stewart doing what he does best: covering a presidential campaign. What we wouldn’t give to see him in action in 2016.

You guys… Jon Stewart just bought a farm in New Jersey. And he’s going to make it an animal sanctuary… Swoon.

EcoRazzi reports that Stewart “recently purchased a farm in New Jersey with the intention of providing a sanctuary for farm animals rescued from cruelty.”

According to EcoRazzi, this news comes as no surprise. In early April, the soon-to-be-retired Comedy Central “Daily Show” host interviewed Gene Baur, president and co-founder of Farm Sanctuary. During the interview, the two discussed Baur’s book, “Living the Farm Sanctuary Life.”

The eco-positive news site also reports that Tracey Stewart, Jon Stewart’s wife, is a big-time farm animal activist. “She discovered Farm Sanctuary after reading ‘Farm Sanctuary: Changing Hearts and Minds About Animals and Food,’ Baur’s 2008 account of the conception and evolution of the organization,” reports EcoRazzi.

At first, Stewart’s wife wanted to reach out to Baur to get stories for her book, “Do Unto Animals,” and Moomah, her magazine. However, over time, she got increasingly more involved in the organization and supporting farm animals.

Before the Stewarts decided to embrace the farm life, the eco-minded couple were involved in other bouts of farm animal activism, too:

• Tracey is a vegan. In a press release, she said, “The joy of interacting with animals as friends instead of using them for human consumption is life-changing. A trip to Farm Sanctuary should be on everyone’s to-do list, but you can also bring a little bit of sanctuary home when you sponsor an animal through the Adopt a Farm Animal Program.”
• Tracey gave Adopt a Farm Animal sponsorships to Thanksgiving guests.
• The Stewart family takes regular trips to Farm Sanctuary.

And because of the couple’s work helping animals, Farm Sanctuary named two rescued sheep Jon and Tracey in their honor.

Manspreading is taking over New York’s subway system–men hogging two seats by  widely spreading their legs.

But according to “The Daily Show” correspondent Kristen Schaal, it’s justified. “Men make 30 percent more than women, they should have 30 percent more space on the ride to work,” Schaal says, telling Jon Stewart: “You’ve been so brainwashed by this feminized world, you can’t even see everything that men have lost.”

The best part is when she talks directly to Stewart’s balls to remind them that they have lost the freedom once inherent to all men. Oh the horror of modern commuting. And pants.

We know Jon Stewart works hard and deserves vacation time, but why does it seem like the hugest news stories happen while “The Daily Show” is on vacation?

Well, Stewart didn’t disappoint on this recap of the cluster in Ferguson. He distilled it down to it’s most important and obvious point: that every person of color in this country has faced an indignity because of the color of their skin. We can change that, but first, we have to recognize the truth.

This week on eco-friendly television, Leonardo DiCaprio took us to Greensburg, KS, the first sustainable city, and Jon Stewart had a few words to say about Senator Lindsey Graham (mostly “waa”). Once again prompting us to cry out “I Want My Green TV!”

Can Greensburg Sustain Sustainability?

Out of the ashes of unthinkable tragedy rises an eco-phoenix, as the third season of “Greensburg: A Final Look” premiered on Planet Green.

In 2006, Hollywood’s green poster boy Leonardo DiCaprio had an idea for a TV series. He wanted to build an entire sustainable town and film the process as a reality show. But he couldn’t find the location.

A year later, nature intervened when Greensburg (no we didn’t make that up), was 95 percent destroyed by an F5 tornado. The community came together to rebuild, and they vowed to go green. Leo brought in camera crews to document the historic story of revitalization and perseverance.

As the third season kicked off, the green municipality was revealed – yes, progress has come to Greensburg. The Wind Farm is moving forward (ten turbines that will power the whole city and then some), the geo-thermal heated state-of-the-art school is under construction, and there’s even a uber-metropolitan fancy coffee shop for all the local’s mocha cappuccino needs. But one critical question is yet to be answered. Will there be enough jobs to sustain the sustainable town?

Maybe Leo should have built a green movie studio to put all the residents to work.

Jon Stewart Has One Word for Lindsey Graham: “Waa”

Leave it to Jon Stewart to call it like he sees it and school a U.S. Senator on his childish behavior.

It all started last November when Republican Senator Lindsey Graham, Democrat John Kerry, and Independent Democrat Joe Lieberman teamed up for the greatest tripartisan environmental effort in history. Their goal, a compromise climate and energy bill, was almost ready to be handed over to the Environmental Protection Agency for review. But when Democrats shifted their attention to the heated topic of immigration, Graham walked away threatening to vote against the bill.

And with that, the momentum surrounding the energy bill disappeared faster than the polar ice caps.

Enter Jon Stewart who thought Graham’s maneuvering felt like a disappointed child taking his toys and going home. When EPA Administrator Lisa P. Jackson stopped by The Daily Show, the host got right to the heart of the matter saying, “Do you feel that Senator Graham is a big fat baby? And would you like to say to him right now, “˜Waa. Waa. Waa. Waa, Lindsey Graham?'”

Jackson sidestepped the joke with a more adult suggestion – remind him how important his contribution is to the bill’s success. But Stewart had a another creative idea, “Have you thought about candy or a pacifier for Senator Graham?”

Graham probably won’t be stopping by “The Daily Show” anytime soon.
