Artful (Re)Cycling

Anything that promotes Mr Macmillan's wonderful invention - a.k.a. the bike, or, a most sensible way to get around - gets my thumbs-up.

Like the stunning Tree of Life that Tina blogged recently, this wall sculpture has been fashioned from metal reclaimed from oil drums.  It's made by fair trade artisans in Haiti who are assisted with micro-loans by PachaWorld. The works support industry in this economically hard-hit land where unemployment has soared to 85%.

And what better way to highlight the power of recycling than to salvage the waste from petroleum production and turn it into art that promotes the greenest of transport options? It's a fabulous sculpture - a piece of artistic whimsy and a message all in one - perfect for hanging in the wall of a nursery, or gracing your hallway to charm visitors.

Image/Purchase: "Bike Ride", Pacha World for $129.
