Pillow Talk

It was on the streets of Paris that former logo designer Melinda Cox was moved to create her eco-friendly pillows and totes. "People in that city aren't just environmentally aware, they live a more environmentally sensitive existence," she says, pointing to the smaller cars and practice of bringing their own bags to markets.

Looking to color and happy motifs, her Balanced Design was born, an upbeat line of green accessories like her hand silk-screened pillows on hemp/linen fabric. I love her feminine Matisse-inspired leafy applique pillows in acqua and lime ($95 at sponsor VivaTerra). She also does clean block and stripe patterns which are at home on the Danish sofa.

Carry your fabric swatches in one of Cox's pink Egg print zipper pouches or purple and green Henna totes. Feast your eyes at Balanced Design.
