Green Fashion Event: Project Earth Day

For all of us style-savvy greenies out there, the sound of Earth Day might leave us crinkling our noses a bit. We all recognize the necessity of green choices, but isn't Earth Day a little...granola? Not at all - and that’s exactly why forward-thinking groups like the Emerging Green Builders and the United States Green Building Council have created Project Earth Day, a very cool adaptation for fashionistas.

Project Earth Day is a fashion show dedicated to the promotion of green design and advocates values of sustainability, innovation and environmental responsibility. Last year’s show included many green designers, including names you’ve seen right here on EcoSalon like Bahar Shahpar, Charmone, Loyale, Mad Imports, NaturevsFuture, and Terra Plana. This year, the event takes place on April 24. If you happen to be in New York City, be sure to check it out. I wish I could attend!

(Also, if you’re student, Project Earth Day features a design competition seeking fresh, eco-savvy talent. Each winning design will make its fashion debut on the Project Earth Day catwalk by a professional model. There will be 5 winners who will receive tiered cash prizes, press, and gift bags.)
