Felt Like It

They call designer Mary Ann Williams the "Queen of Felt".

She uses the material to create stunning flokati rugs in luscious colors. The rugs, winner of the 2007 Good Design Award, are 100% wool felt, machine washable and biodegradable. Williams' company, Illu-Stration, markets the pieces as both floor rugs and wall panels because of their sculptural allure.

Born in Cape Town, South Africa, Williams began her career making high fashion hats and still produces a whimsical, ultra modern line. She also offers a fun selection of shaggy carpets made out of fine leather that is tanned and dyed using eco-friendly techniques that meet international quality standards. The collection is available at Illu-Stration.
