Shame on me, readers. I’m a tad late in getting you fall fashion trends, eco-style, to keep you looking fabulous in the changing season. I’m going to blame it on the perplexing microclimate of San Francisco that brings our summer several months late.
Here’s what’s coming up for fall. In the coming weeks, I’ll be sussing out these trends to give you specific eco options (with nary a Louis Vuitton in site…unless it’s vintage, of course) to keep you looking perfectly on point.

Clothes:
– Look for dark fall florals. Don’t worry – we’re talking Alexander McQueen, not Laura Ashley.
– Glam it up with sparkles, sequins, glimmer, and gloss. This is my personal favorite, so I’m on a hunt for eco-options.
– It’s all about sexy details – lace cutouts, smocking, and embroidery.
– Show off your figure. Fall is about a tailored, feminine cut. We’re over loose and drapey – for now, at least.
– Combine light and heavy, structured fabrics. Think chiffon with wool or sheer blouses under blazers.
– Experiment with bold colors. We like flame, which is great for mixing with greys.
– Juxtapose unexpected colors and fabrics. This season is all about texture, so play around and create something truly original. It’s a great opportunity to explore vintage!
Shoes:
– Say goodbye to boring black pumps. This season is all about attitude on your feet. Think Mondrian color blocking, hologram metallics, and yellow with black.
– Just when we thought the gladiator theme was over, the look comes at us full force in the form of ankle boots. And I have to admit, I actually love it.
– Fall is all about stacked heels. Imagine a more sophisticated platform.
– I’m not so sure about this one, but designers seem to be loving the jazz lace-up flat.
Accessories:
– Get out your tiaras, ladies. Jeweled headpieces are a fall staple. I may be skipping out on this one. I sincerely hope you do, too.
– Glitter yourself up in gold and big gemstones. (I’m raiding Grandma’s collection.)
– Look for chain links – purse straps, jewelry, belts. (This is where vintage comes in for all of us stylish eco-minded women.)
Beauty:
– The powers-that-wanna-be say: Choose dark, high-impact eyes flecked with silver and gold or fresh lips in gorgeous coral and knockout red. We say do whatever makes you feel wonderful, which might mean no makeup at all!
