The Eternal Stiletto

-

There was a time, oh…say a year or so ago, when suddenly the stiletto was nowhere to be found. After years of developing my personal collection, the shoe I considered a classic had vanished from high fashion. Round toe, wedge, stacked heel, “Ëœ50s pump all plastered the magazines and runways. And just like that, I was out of style. Embarrassed to don my skinny heel, I dug through my closet and saved my paychecks to strut the streets on trend.

We’ve all seen it before – chic one second and out the next. But luckily, it all comes back. Black made way for colorblock, loose hanging stepped aside for leggings, and low-rise gave way to high waisted. If you’re at all frugal or nostalgic like I am, you held on to all those once-trends for safekeeping. And it’s a good thing. Recycled and used (even if only from your own wardrobe) is the greenest way to shop and saves you money, of course.

I’m happy to report that, from what I’ve seen in the glossies, the stiletto has arrived again. Into my stash I go to dust off all those lonely pairs and revive them. Towering heights, razor-sharp tips – it’s hard to tell how long the stiletto will remain on the front steps of the fashion runway, but I think I’ve made my “point”!
