Eco Style West Vol. 8

Sustainable fashion news from Ecosalon’s West Coast correspondent.

Love’s Lustre — Looking for the perfect something for Mom this Sunday? LA based jeweler,  Jeffrey Levin, has handcrafted the mother of all Mother’s Day gifts with his sustainably harvested, resin, dye and bleach-free mother of pearl collection. Just like Mom, the iridescent pearl is soothing when life feels stressful. Its retro qualities are rendered modern by Levin’s substantial recycled silver setting and careful crafting. An attached tiny precious heart charm, available in gold, silver and white or black diamond, signifies how much you care. Available as an adjustable ring or pendant. Enjoy 30% off through Mother’s Day by entering code JLECO at check out.

Sew Cool — Watching a live runway show together may be the best way to bond with Mom this weekend. The Academy of Art University’s School of Fashion’s talented graduates showcase their latest collections this Saturday, at 2pm in the Tent at 601 Brannan Street in San Francisco. The Academy’s world renowned fashion programs have turned out some of the Bay area’s best sustainable talent, with EcoSalon featured designers such as Sara Shepherd, Camilla Olson and Emily Melville learning their craft there. The only fashion school in the world to show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Lincoln Center each season, this event is open to the public and admission is free. RSVP here and get there early for the best view.

Fabric Of Fashion — What do launching your own fashion line, the conscious clothing movement, celebrity culture, and West Coast style all have in common? They’re all part of the planned panel discussions for the Afingo Fashion Forum event in Los Angeles on May 5th. For all budding eco-fashion types, this event aims to introduce you to who you need to know. Held at the California Market Center, tickets are available online.
