Some of us are just getting up to speed on going green. We’re trying little things here and there to green our lives, but don’t want to compromise style.
We come up against an inner struggle – yearning for luxury but fighting overindulgence. Thanks to innovative designers and distributors, we no longer have to compromise.
If you haven’t already visited Saks Fifth Avenue’s Green House, it’s worth a look. The site serves as the department store’s online eco-collective and houses high-end brands like Edun, Beau Soleil, and Lutz & Patmos.
Take this organic cotton bolero, for instance. Not only is it made from Peruvian hand-twisted organic fair-trade cotton, it’s also hand-colored with dyes made from trees and seed pods. Traditional pre-Columbian processes create texture and slight color variation, making each piece unique. The yarn is locally sourced, saving on fuel consumption, and each piece is hand-made in Peru.
Go ahead, indulge in green luxury. $325.
