Mobiles That Bring Light Out of the Shade

-

Now, lampshades are all very well, but they…shade. You don’t want a monotony of light in your room – you want to cast it, throw it excitingly into corners, allow it to do things you weren’t expecting, just like daylight.

Hence the appeal of the lampshade mobile. As you know from Kim’s and Elaine’s posts, we love mobiles – and so the appeal of Vancouver design studio Propeller is self-evident. Their lighting is crafted from sustainable bamboo and Eco-Resin (say what? Ah, right), in a variety of natural-looking designs evoking falling autumn leaves, mineral crystals and electrons spinning round atoms.

And the best thing about them? The gaps. No flat wash of light from these beauties – instead fascinating, playful, colorful scatters of light and dark, and we like seeing both in our homes. Mobiles were meant to have light shone through them – and these creations prove it.

Chandeliers and pendants available in a custom range of sizes and colors.
