Sala Pe

-

When I was a child, I was mesmerized by my neighbor’s garden. Not only did she have a green thumb that yielded a lush collage of plants and flowers, but she also had a charming collection of garden knickknacks to accompany all the blooms and foliage. A miniature wooden house nestled under the branches of a sturdy oak tree was my favorite.

When I asked her about it, she explained that a sala pe or spirit house is much more than just a decoration. According to ancient Thai tradition, they’re used to harbor celestial beings roaming the earth that, in return, will watch over your home and protect you. Thi Teak Spirit House reminds me of my childhood discovery. Artisan-crafted and 100% sustainable, it’s an eco-friendly way to appease wandering souls while adding a touch of character to your own garden. (Available at sponsor VivaTerra for $149.)
