The American cannabis industry is growing… fast. And Ganjapreneur, a website dedicated to helping connect cannabis entrepreneurs, just added a new feature to help these budding business people connect.
Ganjapreneur launched in July 2014 and in the fall of the same year, the site launched its Marijuana Job Feed. The Job Feed was created to highlight the various gigs available in the cannabis industry. Just recently, however, the site added a search feature that allows entrepreneurs in the industry to easily connect with cannabis companies that are hiring.
This feature not only is a much-needed addition to the site, but it also shows that the burgeoning field of cannabis production is here to stay.
So far, the site has accumulated more than 15 pages worth of industry jobs. People who are looking to break into the industry can find work in a wide-array of positions. After just glancing, I found listings from trimmers, to budtenders, and from writers, to social media managers.
In addition to listing the myriad jobs that can be found in the cannabis industry, Ganjapreneur is dedicated to reporting on industry trends and news, and also has a “stoner slang” and paraphernalia “dictionary.”
While this site, and other cannabis industry job sites, such as 420careers.com and thcjobs, com, are relatively young, they don’t appear to be going anywhere soon. In fact, it appears that they are growing.
While Ganjapreneur has continually added new services to its site since its mid-2014 launch, it continues to add new services now (it will have it’s freelancer network up and running by spring 2015) and it will feature rising cannabis industry names.
So, what does the overall state of legalized pot look like right now? There’s a lot of debate but one thing is for sure – it’s constantly changing. Here are some highlights about the cannabis industry recently referenced in a CS Monitor article:
“Polls suggest a majority of Americans support legal pot.
Many Coloradans haven’t noticed much of a difference between the medical marijuana systems and the newly commercialized system. Some 23 states now have legal medical marijuana in place in some form, and last November, residents of Oregon, Alaska, and the District of Columbia voted to fully legalize pot.
Legalization advocates say that 2016 is likely to be the next big year, when Arizona, California, Maine, Massachusetts, and Nevada (at a minimum) could all vote on legalization.
Moreover, a majority of Americans now support legalization, although the 51 percent who told Gallup they supported it last fall is down from the 58 percent who supported it a year ago.”
Congress will be pushed into voting for legalization at some point in the not-too- distant future.”
Also: Another word of note from The Washington Post – “compared to other recreational drugs — including alcohol — marijuana may be even safer than previously thought. And researchers may be systematically underestimating risks associated with alcohol use.”
What are your thoughts on marijuana? Do you think it should be legal throughout the United Sates or only used for medical purposes?
