one billion rising

On 19 January 2014, the official One Billion Rising 2013 documentary short premiered at Sundance.

The campaign highlights the fact that one in three women on the planet will be raped or beaten in her lifetime. That amounts to one billion women. So in 2013, one billion women and men danced together around the world to end violence against women and girls. The campaign is calling on men and women to rise again this year on February 14th.
