What's Better Than Flaxseeds for Omega-3's? Ch-ch-chia!

Ch-ch-chia! If you weren’t in the right generation to actually have a Chia Pet, I’m sure you at least remember something about their existence. You’d fill the red clay animal with tiny chia seeds, water it and within a few days your pet would have a luxurious coat of green "fur"!

Well, that kitschy 70s throwback has been upcycled into a superfood for the next millennia. The miniscule chia seeds are packed with calcium and protein and are a better, more readily digested source of Omega-3’s than flaxseeds! With their nutty flavor, they taste great sprinkled over salads or yogurt, or ground up and added to flour.

Plus, if you’re looking to lose weight, you should note that chia seeds expand greatly with water, making them a very filling and high energy food. Sounds good to me! I’ll be humming “Ch-ch-chia” all the way to the store!
