Imagine your very own Personal Battery. Your PB is a rechargeable cell, light as a feather, with a fabulous storage capacity. And it fits all your everyday electronics from your toaster to your toothbrush. It attaches to your belt or slips neatly into your bag. (You can’t imagine going anywhere without it!)
Each day you happily jump onto your previously neglected fitness machine of choice – because, as you exercise, your mechanical energy is converted into electrical energy for your PB. Afterwards, you unplug your topped-up PB and take it away to literally empower your life. Eureka!
Working out for the good of the waistline and the planet? At the thought of a million treadmills in the basements of America finally serving as more than dusty storage shelves for macaroni necklaces and unwanted wedding gifts, dollar signs pranced before my eyes.
Until I discovered – yet again – that my brilliant idea has been thought of already. Though currently impractical, the technology exists and is rapidly being refined. Perhaps I’ll simply purchase stock in eco-friendly sneakers, instead. One thing is clear: this century is going to change in ways beyond your wildest dreams as we develop a host of energy solutions to save our world.
