This is What Your Brow Shape is Telling the World

What Your Brow Shape is Telling the World

Full, grown-in brows have been the style for a while now. But you don’t hear quite as much about what your brow shape does to your overall demeanor. Find out what yours are saying.

Confident, wary, angry. If you think your brow shape isn’t speaking to the world, better take a closer look.

Experts say the shape of your brows can cause you to look more the way you want (positive, secure), or more the way you don’t want (afraid, surprised). An outdated brow can even cause your face to appear older, at least according to actress, Olivia Munn.

Of course, we all want to convey the appearance of confidence and self-assurance. Whether interviewing for your dream job, going on a first date, getting ready for your wedding day, or simply navigating through life, let’s make sure those on-fleek brows are saying what you want them to.

3 Dos and Don’ts of the Perfect Eyebrow Shape

1. Don’t overpluck. This is pretty much a no-brainer in the brow world by now. Full brows are it, after all. Still, a unibrow is definitely not it. Too much plucking between brows can cause a look of surprise, and tends to age the face and make the nose look bigger. Hold a makeup brush vertically against the side of your nose. This is where your brow should begin. Always err on the side of a narrower space, here.

2. Now, back away from the tweezers. Once you’ve cleaned up the middle area, put those suckers down. What about the strays under your arch or hanging out on the edges? No worries. Don’t believe me? Take a look at what brow connoisseur, Elke Von Freudenberg, has dubbed the new “spring brow”. Definitely letting things grow.

3. Groom into place. Rather than plucking brows into submission, we are now shaping via beauty products and tools. Wrangle your bushy brows into tidy little packages. To do this, brush brows upward with Jane Iredale PureBrow Brow Gel. Fill in any bare spots or gaps with Alima Pure Eyebrow Pencil. Go over lightly with a clean eyebrow brush.

Now keep your fingers off of them and let your beautiful brows do the talking.
